Shall We Gather at the River...

...a brief review of the happenings at the Cossatot River crossing

going to and from Things Wild

After a hard day at work, we came home to find that the heavy rains of the day had flooded the

low-water bridge across the Cossatot River that we had to cross to get home.  So we had to return to

town and get a room for the night.

..........................................

The next evening, when we tried to cross it was already getting dark and we discovered

that the bridge had been washed out.....back to town for another night in the motel.

...............................

Then a neighbor called and said we could cross his land and use his bridge until the county

fixed the Cossatot bridge.  We were thrilled....until we saw his bridge and realized what

a white-water adventure we were going to have crossing it.

................................

However, we chanced it twice a day for 3 days, then the county created a temporary

crossing up-stream and began to repair the bridge.  Half way thru, Hurricane Ike came

thru and his heavy rains and flooding destroyed the temporary crossing, floated a huge oak tree

into the partially repaired bridge and knocked out the phone lines to our community.

............................................

.........................................

...so it was back to the white-water crossing for a while....

Oh the joys of living in the wilderness!
