It Started with a Little Fly!

February 14, 2004

(It Was Worse Than a Flood or Tornado!)

I have got to tell you my sad story!  Not that you can help me, no, I'm too far gone for that!

This all began back in mid-January.  A little fly was buzzing about and LaVern looked up to

see what it was....she remarked that the ceiling needed painting....and the little fly flew down and

landed on the carpet....LaVern's gaze followed it and she said, "We need new carpet, too!"

She studied the room for a moment, then exclaimed, "...and this furniture will not go with the

new carpet!"  Next day, she called Good Will and gave away the Couch and Coffee table; my

Recliner, End table, and Lamp;  the Sofa, another End table and Lamp; and our Bed!

And, as if that wasn't enough, she also gave away my Cardio-glide, and my AB-doer,

(Not that I used either of them that much)!  In 2 days, they came and hauled it all away and we

have been camping out ever since.  Imagine, sleeping on the floor with the TV as your only

furniture and everything packed in boxes.... Everything in disarray!  It has been awful! In the

meantime, however, we did get the ceiling and beams painted and, in fact, were able to get the

the bedroom, foyer, and hall painted.  LaVern arranged for the carpet people to come and install

the carpet on January 28th..... we would have to sleep on the floor for nearly 2 weeks!

On January 28, the carpet people called, the carpet didn't come in...it would take 2 more

weeks to get it in!  I cursed...I stomped...I threw things...I couldn't go on living like that!

Anyway, finally, yesterday, Friday, February 13th (scary, huh!) they were supposed to install

the carpet...I knew it wouldn't happen!  The truck would be involved in an accident.. or the

warehouse would burn down.. or the installer's mother in Rhode Island would have a stroke and

he would have to rush to her side.  Something would happen and the hell would continue!  It was,

after all, Friday, the 13th!  Well, praise be to He Who watches over the old and infirmed,  the

carpet installer man came, he saw, and he installed!  I remembered to get LaVern some roses

for Valentines Day, and we should have a bed by nightfall!  All is well at Things Wild!  We

hope all is well with all of you!

Happy Valentines Day to all of you romantic 42er's
